Another disappointment of egg crate foam is it that it usually acts like a sponge. This means that if it becomes wet or damp, it will ruin its ability to provide comfort. There are water resistant types but unfortunately the small holes will retain water and moisture. If you happen to lay down on it, all of those small pockets of water will end up in a big puddle and/or on you.

Now egg crate foam is not only used for people. In fact it is also used for pet beds, packing, and of course modified versions by NASA are used in space. Some people have even used it for padding inside chairs.
