Packaging is a very important part of today’s business world. The product is only as good as the packaging, for
today’s standards, you should be able to judge a book by its cover. With the world-wide sales of electronic gadgets
and equipment, along with various fragile products, it is imperative that they arrive to their destination
preferably in one piece, and a hundred percent working. Defective products due to transport cost companies
millions. It’s not just the product manufacturers that shoulder the expense of replacing a broken product, the
logistics company have to pay insurance as well, for it is their job to get the item to the location safely. But
not all items have their own unique packaging that would keep them safe during transport, other items like vases,
china wares, and non-brand new materials that people may want to ship would need good packaging.
There are a lot of things you can do to keep your package safe. A sturdy box is of course a good start, and then
you need to secure the internal of the box and make sure that stuff do not bump into each other or get scratched.
For this you need good packing foam, lots of packing foam.
Here are the most basic kinds of packing foam out there. Egg crate convoluted foam is shaped like an egg tray on
one side. This interlocking design stabilizes your items during shipment. The other side of the foam is flat so you
can evenly place it around the box with no trouble while the bumpy side will help secure your items. This packing
foam is non-abrasive so you do not have to worry about scratches. This type is used for items with uneven shapes
since the bumps conform to the shape of the items somewhat for more even protection.

For boxy items you can use the regular flat packing foam. As this is just flat on both sides, it’s quite easy to
use this with regular shaped things, like picture frames, VCRs or DVD players, and other similar items.
For more fragile and rare items like antique vases and vintage wines, you can opt for the more expensive White
Polyethylene Foam which is quite dense and a bit thick. You can cut out or carve the surface of the foam for your
item to fit into, and I assure you that that item would be safe; these cushions are sometimes used in air craft
seat cushions and as lining for custom cases, like the ones you see in movies containing sniper rifles.
If you are shipping bare electronic parts such as mother boards or graphics, sound, or any PCI cards which have
no packaging of their own (used or what not), you may use anti-static polyethylene foam on top of other foam types.
That is because electronics are not just delicate to bumps and sudden drops but static discharges may damage them,
when physical force does not. So it is quite important to use antistatic packing foam to protect your bare
electronic items. With all the kinds of packing foams and companies that sell them, it won’t be hard for you to
find the ones you need in a price you can afford.
